Genesis

Creation

(Genesis 1:1-31)

(1) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (2) And the earth was formless and void, and the

darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the water.

(3) Then God said, "Let there be light", and there was light. (4) And God saw that the light was good; and

God separated the light from the darkness. (5) And God called the light day, and the darkness He called night.

And there was evening and there was morning, one day.

(6) Then God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from

the waters. (7) And God made the expanse, and separated the waters which were below the expanse from the

waters which were above the expanse, and it was so. (8) And God called the expanse heaven, and there was evening

and there was morning the second day.

(9) Then God said, "Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear"

and it was so. (10) And God called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas; and

God saw that it was good. (11) Then God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation plants yielding seed, and fruit

trees bearing fruit after their kind, with seed in them, on the earth", and it was so. (12) And the earth brought

forth vegetation plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, with seed in them, after their

kind; and God saw that it was good. (13) And there was evening and there was morning, a third day.

(14) Then God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let

them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years; (15) and let them be for lights in the expanse of the

heavens to give light on the earth", and it was so. (16) And God made the two great lights, the greater light to

govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. (17) And God placed them in the

expanse of the heavens to give light on earth, (18) and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light

from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. (19) And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

(20) Then God said, "Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the

open expanse of the heavens. (21) And God created the great sea monsters, and every living creature that moves,

with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

(22) And God blessed them saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply

on the earth." (23) And there was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.

(24) Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind; cattle and creeping things and

beasts of the earth after their kind", and it was so. (25) And God made the beasts of the earth after their kind,

and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good. (26) The God said, "Let us

make man in Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the

cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

(27) And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

(28) And God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it;

and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the

earth." (29) The God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of the

all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; (30) and to every beast

of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to everything that moves on the earth which has life, I have given

every green plant for food", and it was so.

(31) God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning the sixth day.

Genesis (2:1-3)

(1) Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. (2) By the seventh day God had finished

the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. (3) And God blessed the seventh day

and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

Gen 2:10-14

Mesopotamia: Tigris and Euphrates River

10 A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters.

11 The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold.

12(The gold of that land is good; aromatic resin and onyx are also there.) 13 The name of the second

river is the Gihon; it winds through the entire land of Cush. 14 The name of the third river is the

Tigris; it runs along the east side of Asshur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

Adam and Eve

Genesis (1:27-29)

(27) And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

(28) And God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it;

and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the

earth." (29) The God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of the

all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; (30) and to every beast

of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to everything that moves on the earth which has life, I have given

Gen 2:15-20

15 The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you

must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely

die."

18 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air.

He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature,

that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts

of the field.

Gen 2:21-24

21 And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs,

and closed up the flesh instead thereof:

22 and the rib, which Jehovah God had taken from the man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23 And the man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman,

because she was taken out of Man.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall

be one flesh.

Genesis 2:25

Being naked and not ashamed should always be in the same sentence, right in your marriage physically and emotionally.

Gen 3:24

24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword

flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the

Gen 4:26

26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enosh.

Then began men to call upon the name of Jehovah.

Gen 5:1-2 Adam to Noah (9 generations) – Elohim

5:1 This is the written account of Adam's line.

When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God.

2 He created them male and female and blessed them.

And when they were created, he called them "man."

Genesis 5:4

4 The days of Adam after he fathered Seth were 800 years; and he had other sons and daughters.

Genesis: Enosh, Kenan, Jared, Mahelel, Enoch (Walked with God), Methuselah -> Lamech

Gen 5:6-32

6 When Seth had lived 105 years, he became the father of Enosh. 7 And after he became the father of Enosh,

Seth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters. 8 Altogether, Seth lived 912 years, and then he died.

9 When Enosh had lived 90 years, he became the father of Kenan. 10 And after he became the father of Kenan,

Enosh lived 815 years and had other sons and daughters. 11 Altogether, Enosh lived 905 years, and then he died.

12 When Kenan had lived 70 years, he became the father of Mahalalel. 13 And after he became the father of

Mahalalel, Kenan lived 840 years and had other sons and daughters. 14 Altogether, Kenan lived 910 years,

and then he died.

15 When Mahalalel had lived 65 years, he became the father of Jared. 16 And after he became the father of

Jared, Mahalalel lived 830 years and had other sons and daughters. 17 Altogether, Mahalalel lived 895 years,

and then he died.

18 When Jared had lived 162 years, he became the father of Enoch. 19 And after he became the father of Enoch,

Jared lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. 20 Altogether, Jared lived 962 years, and then he died.

21 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah. 22 And after he became the father of

Methuselah, Enoch walked with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23 Altogether,

Enoch lived 365 years. 24 Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.

25 When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech. 26 And after he became the father of

Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters. 27 Altogether, Methuselah lived 969 years,

and then he died.

28 When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son. 29 He named him Noah

30 After Noah was born, Lamech lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters. 31 Altogether, Lamech lived

777 years, and then he died.

Genesis: 2450 BC Noah

Great Sea: Mediterranean Sea

32 After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth.

Genesis 6:1–4

The Nephilim were on the earth in those days — and also afterward — when the sons of God went to the

daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

Gen 6:9-10

9 This is the account of Noah.

Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God.

10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.

Gen 6:22

22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him.

Genesis: 2400 BC (The Ark and the Rainbow)

Gen 7:1-4

7:1 The LORD then said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found

you righteous in this generation. 2 Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and

its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3 and also seven of every

kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. 4 Seven days

from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights.

Then God said to Noah,

Ge 8:16 “Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives.

Ge 8:17 Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all

the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and

increase in number upon it.”

Ge 8:18 So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives.

Ge 8:19 All the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground and all the birds—everything

that moves on the earth—came out of the ark, one kind after another.

Ge 8:20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds,

he sacrificed burnt offerings on it.

Ge 8:21 The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart:

Ge 8:22 “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and

night will never cease.”

Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.

Ge 9:2 The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air,

upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands.

Ge 9:3 Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now

give you everything.

Genesis 9:12-17

God made a covenant with Noah

As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”

Ge 9:8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him:

Ge 9:9 “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you

Ge 9:10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals,

all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth.

Ge 9:11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never

again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

Ge 9:12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature

with you, a covenant for all generations to come:

Ge 9:13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

Ge 9:14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,

Ge 9:15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will

the waters become a flood to destroy all life.

Ge 9:16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between

God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

Ge 9:17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”

Genesis 10: 2300 BC ->

Gen 10:1

10:1 This is the account of Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah's sons, who themselves had sons after the flood.

Ge 10:18 Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites.

The Semites

Ge 10:21 Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber.

Ge 10:22 The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram.

Ge 10:24 Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah the father of Eber.

Ge 10:30 The region where they lived stretched from Mesha toward Sephar, in the eastern hill country.

Ge 10:31 These are the sons of Shem by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations.

Ge 10:32 These are the clans of Noah’s sons, according to their lines of descent, within their nations. From these

the nations spread out over the earth after the flood.

Two years after the flood, when Shem was 100 years old, he became the father of Arphaxad.

Ge 11:11 And after he became the father of Arphaxad, Shem lived 500 years and had other sons and daughters.

Ge 11:12 When Arphaxad had lived 35 years, he became the father of Shelah.

Ge 11:13 And after he became the father of Shelah, Arphaxad lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.

Ge 11:14 When Shelah had lived 30 years, he became the father of Eber.

Ge 11:15 And after he became the father of Eber, Shelah lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.

Ge 11:16 When Eber had lived 34 years, he became the father of Peleg.

Ge 11:17 And after he became the father of Peleg, Eber lived 430 years and had other sons and daughters.

Ge 11:18 When Peleg had lived 30 years, he became the father of Reu.

Ge 11:19 And after he became the father of Reu, Peleg lived 209 years and had other sons and daughters.

Ge 11:20 When Reu had lived 32 years, he became the father of Serug.

Ge 11:21 And after he became the father of Serug, Reu lived 207 years and had other sons and daughters.

Ge 11:22 When Serug had lived 30 years, he became the father of Nahor.

Ge 11:23 And after he became the father of Nahor, Serug lived 200 years and had other sons and daughters.

Ge 11:24 When Nahor had lived 29 years, he became the father of Terah.

Ge 11:25 And after he became the father of Terah, Nahor lived 119 years and had other sons and daughters.

Ge 11:26 After Terah had lived 70 years, he became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran.

Ge 11:27 This is the account of Terah.

Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran. And Haran became the father of Lot.

The Parable of the Sower

Mk 4:1 Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large

that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the

water’s edge.

Mk 4:2 He taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said:

Mk 4:3 “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed.

Mk 4:4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.

Mk 4:5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the

soil was shallow.

Mk 4:6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no

root.

Mk 4:7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear

grain.

Mk 4:8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, multiplying thirty,

sixty, or even a hundred times.”

Mk 4:9 Then Jesus said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Mk 4:10 When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables.

Mk 4:11 He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the

outside everything is said in parables

Mk 4:12 so that, “ ‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never

understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’’”

Mk 4:13 Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand

any parable?

Mk 4:14 The farmer sows the word.

Mk 4:15 Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it,

Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them.

Mk 4:16 Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy.

Mk 4:17 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes

because of the word, they quickly fall away.

Mk 4:18 Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word;

Mk 4:19 but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in

and choke the word, making it unfruitful.

Mk 4:20 Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—thirty,

sixty or even a hundred times what was sown.”

A Lamp on a Stand

Mk 4:21 He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you

put it on its stand?

Mk 4:22 For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be

brought out into the open.

Mk 4:23 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Mk 4:24 “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be

measured to you—and even more.

Mk 4:25 Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken

from him.”

The Parable of the Growing Seed

Mk 4:26 He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground.

Mk 4:27 Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does

not know how.

Mk 4:28 All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the

head.

Mk 4:29 As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”

The Parable of the Mustard Seed

Mk 4:30 Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to

describe it?

Mk 4:31 It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest seed you plant in the ground.

branches that the birds of the air can perch in its shade.”

Mk 4:33 With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could

understand.

Mk 4:34 He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own

disciples, he explained everything.

Jesus Calms the Storm

Mk 4:35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.”

Mk 4:36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also

other boats with him.

Mk 4:38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him,

“Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

and it was completely calm.

Mk 4:40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

Mk 4:41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey

him!”

Mark 10:9

Luke 4:18-19

18 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me: because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.

12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.

13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,

17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.

20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?”

23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.

25 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you.

26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

28 You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.

29 And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe.

30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me,

31 but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds

through Christ Jesus, John 14:27

The Vine and the Branches

Jn 15:1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.

Jn 15:2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so

that it will be even more fruitful.

Jn 15:3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.

Future Glory

Ro 8:18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be

revealed in us. Ro 8:19 The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.

Ro 8:20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one

who subjected it, in hope Ro 8:21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay

and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. Ro 8:22 We know that the whole

creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Ro 8:23 Not

only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly

for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. Ro 8:24 For in this hope we were saved.

But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? Ro 8:25 But if we

hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. Ro 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps

us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes

for us with groans that words cannot express. Ro 8:27 And he who searches our hearts knows the

mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.

More than Conquerors

Ro 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been

called according to his purpose.

Ro 8:29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that

he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Ro 8:30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified,

he also glorified.

Ro 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Ro 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along

with him, graciously give us all things?

Ro 8:33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.

Ro 8:34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—

is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

Ro 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or

famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

Ro 8:36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be

slaughtered.”

Ro 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Ro 8:38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present

nor the future, nor any powers,

Romans 12:1-2

Living Sacrifices

Ro 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living

sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

Ro 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of

your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and

perfect will.

Romans 12:3-15

Ro 12:3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than

you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith

God has given you.

Ro 12:4 Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have

the same function,

Ro 12:5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

Ro 12:6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him

use it in proportion to his faith.

Ro 12:7 If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;

Ro 12:8 if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give

generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

Ro 12:9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

Ro 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Ro 12:11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

Ro 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Ro 12:13 Share with God people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Ro 12:14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

Ro 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

Ro 12:16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with

people of low position. Do not be conceited.

mine to avenge; I will repay, says the Lord.

Ro 12:20 On the contrary: If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.

In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.

Marriage

1Co 7:1 Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good for a man not to marry.

1Co 7:2 But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman

her own husband.

1Co 7:3 The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.

1Co 7:4 The wife’s body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the

husband’s body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.

1Co 7:5 Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote

yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your

lack of self-control.

1Co 7:6 I say this as a concession, not as a command.

1Co 7:7 I wish that all men were as I am. But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift,

another has that.

1Co 7:8 Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am.

1Co 7:9 But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn

with passion.

1Co 7:10 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her

husband.

husband must not divorce his wife.

1Co 7:12 To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she

is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her.

1Co 7:13 And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she

must not divorce him.

1Co 7:14 For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife

has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but

as it is, they are holy.

1Co 7:15 But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such

circumstances; God has called us to live in peace.

1Co 7:16 How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know,

husband, whether you will save your wife?

1Co 7:17 Nevertheless, each one should retain the place in life that the Lord assigned to him and to

which God has called him. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches.

1Co 7:18 Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become

uncircumcised. Was a man uncircumcised when he was called? He should not be circumcised.

1Co 7:19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s commands is what

counts.

1Co 7:20 Each one should remain in the situation which he was in when God called him.

1Co 7:21 Were you a slave when you were called? Don’t let it trouble you—although if you can gain

your freedom, do so.

1Co 7:27 Are you married? Do not seek a divorce. Are you unmarried? Do not look for a wife.

1Co 7:28 But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But

those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.

live as if they had none;

affairs—how he can please the Lord.

wife—

1Co 7:34 and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord’s

affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is

concerned about the affairs of this world—how she can please her husband.

1Co 7:35 I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in

undivided devotion to the Lord.

1Co 7:36 If anyone thinks he is acting improperly toward the virgin he is engaged to, and if she is

getting along in years and he feels he ought to marry, he should do as he wants. He is not sinning.

They should get married.

1Co 7:37 But the man who has settled the matter in his own mind, who is under no compulsion but

has control over his own will, and who has made up his mind not to marry the virgin—this man also

does the right thing.

1Co 7:38 So then, he who marries the virgin does right, but he who does not marry her does even

better.

1Co 7:39 A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to

marry anyone she wishes, but he must belong to the Lord.

God.

Spiritual Gifts

1Co 12:1 Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant.

1Co 12:2 You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led

astray to mute idols.

1Co 12:3 Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be

cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

1Co 12:4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.

1Co 12:5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.

1Co 12:6 There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.

1Co 12:7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

1Co 12:8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of

knowledge by means of the same Spirit,

spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of

tongues.

1Co 12:11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as

he determines.

One Body, Many Parts

1Co 12:12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many,

they form one body. So it is with Christ.

1Co 12:13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or

free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

1Co 12:14 Now the body is not made up of one part but of many.

1Co 12:15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not

for that reason cease to be part of the body.

1Co 12:16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would

not for that reason cease to be part of the body.

1Co 12:17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body

were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?

1Co 12:18 But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted

them to be.

1Co 12:19 If they were all one part, where would the body be?

1Co 12:20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

1Co 12:21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I

don’t need you!”

1Co 12:22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,

1Co 12:23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts

that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty,

1Co 12:24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the

members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it,

1Co 12:25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern

for each other.

1Co 12:26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with

it.

1Co 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

1Co 12:28 And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers,

then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with

gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.

1Co 12:29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?

1Co 12:30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues ? Do all interpret?

1Co 12:31 But eagerly desire the greater gifts.

Love

And now I will show you the most excellent way.

1Co 13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding

gong or a clanging cymbal.

1Co 13:2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a

faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

1Co 13:3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I

gain nothing.

1Co 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

1Co 13:5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

1Co 13:6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

1Co 13:7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1Co 13:8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues,

they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

1Co 13:9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part,

1Co 13:10 but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.

1Co 13:11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I

became a man, I put childish ways behind me.

1Co 13:12 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know

in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

1Co 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Gifts of Prophecy and Tongues

1Co 14:1 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.

1Co 14:2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one

understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit.

1Co 14:3 But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and

comfort.

1Co 14:4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.

1Co 14:5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He

who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church

may be edified.

1Co 14:6 Now, brothers, if I come to you and speak in tongues, what good will I be to you, unless I

bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or word of instruction?

1Co 14:7 Even in the case of lifeless things that make sounds, such as the flute or harp, how will

anyone know what tune is being played unless there is a distinction in the notes?

1Co 14:8 Again, if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?

1Co 14:9 So it is with you. Unless you speak intelligible words with your tongue, how will anyone know

what you are saying? You will just be speaking into the air.

1Co 14:10 Undoubtedly there are all sorts of languages in the world, yet none of them is without

meaning.

Spiritual Blessings in Christ

Made Alive in Christ

Eph 2:1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,

the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

Eph 2:3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires

and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

Eph 2:4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,

Eph 2:5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

Eph 2:6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

Eph 2:7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness

to us in Christ Jesus.

Eph 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—

Eph 2:9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

Eph 2:10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us

to do.

One in Christ

the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.

Eph 2:14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of

hostility,

Eph 2:15 by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself

one new man out of the two, thus making peace,

Eph 2:16 and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their

hostility.

Eph 2:17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.

Eph 2:18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

Eph 2:19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of

God’s household,

Eph 2:20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.

Ephesians 3:17

It is the root and ground of our existences

Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely

more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.

Eph 4:11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to

be pastors and teachers,

Eph 4:12 to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Eph 4:15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is,

The woman is now one in union with you, called to help, beautifully complete, and uniquely support you

as one who chooses to respect her husband the way the church respects Christ.

protecting your, and loving you just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

Freedom in Christ

Ephesians 5:27

The church as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

Husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself, for

no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it.

Render service with a good attitude, as to the Lord and not to men.

The Armor of God

Eph 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Eph 6:11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Eph 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the

powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Eph 6:13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your

ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Eph 6:14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in

place,

Eph 6:15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

Eph 6:16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil

one.

seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on

their heads. 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before

the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God. 6 Also before the throne

there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.

In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in

front and in back. 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third

had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. 8 Each of the four living creatures had

six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying:

"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come."

Rev 19:1-13

After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting:

"Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, 2 for true and just are his judgments.

3 And again they shouted:

"Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever."

4 The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the

throne. And they cried: "Amen, Hallelujah!"

5 Then a voice came from the throne, saying:

"Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both small and great!"

6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals

of thunder, shouting: "Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.

7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has

made herself ready. 8 Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear."

(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)

9 Then the angel said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!'"

And he added, "These are the true words of God."

Revelations 19: Rider on the White Horse

10 At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you

and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the

called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and

Rev 21:1-3

from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the

throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people,

and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will

be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

5 He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down,

for these words are trustworthy and true."

6 He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is

thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 He who overcomes will

inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me,

"Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb." 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a

mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.

11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a

jasper, clear as crystal. 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at

the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 There were three

gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14 The wall of the

city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls.

16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and

found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long. 17 He measured its wall

and it was 144 cubits thick, by man's measurement, which the angel was using. 18 The wall was made of

jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated

with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third

chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite,

the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.

21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city

was of pure gold, like transparent glass.

22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light,

and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will

bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night

there. 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27 Nothing impure will ever

enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are

written in the Lamb's book of life.

River of Life

Revelations 22: Rev 22:1-7

22:1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the

throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the

river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the

leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne

of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him.

4 They will see his face,

and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of

a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and

ever.

6 The angel said to me, "These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the

prophets, sent his angel to show his servants the things that must soon take place."

Jesus is coming

7 "Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book."

12 "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has

done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

14 "Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go

through the gates into the city.

16 "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the

Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star."

20 He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen.

John wrote in Revelation 22:3 .His servants shall serve Him. Each one will be given exactly the task

that suits his power, his tastes, and his abilities. And the Father’s house will be a happy home

because friends will be there. Not one of us who enters the Father’s house will feel lonely or strange,

for we who have put our trust in Christ are part of His family, sharing, heaven’s joys and forever with

all our brothers and sisters in Christ.
